'Colorado Wildflower Meadow and Stream', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. Alpine wildflowers don't really get more plentiful and lush than this meadow filled with Rosy Paintbrush, Western Paintbrush (two types of Paintbrush), and Alpine Avens growing beside a rushing stream. These species tend to grow just below treeline or more commonly above treeline; they are most lush above treeline in moisture-rich sections of the Rocky Mountains. I came across this meadow while ascending Handie's Peak, in the San Juans, one summer morning in late July.
