Original watercolor painting, 'Violet-tailed Sylph', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. I experienced the delight of seeing these beautiful hummingbirds in the wild, on the northwestern slopes of the Andes in Ecuador. Native to only parts of Colombia and Ecuador in South America, these handsome birds have mostly green iridescent plumage, with vivid blue, aqua patches - and the back of their very long tail is a brilliant violet. I chose vivid purple, pink, blue, and orange tones for the background, to contrast with the colors of the bird. This piece is perfect for the bird lover in your family!
