Description
Original watercolor painting, 'Birds of Ecuador', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. This was a very ambitious and fun piece - it is poster-sized, at 22 x 30 inches, and is filled with over 40 species of bird that can be found within the South American country of Ecuador. I put a lot of thought into what birds to include in this painting, but the most 'limiting' factor is that I wanted to include only birds that I have actually seen in the wild, in my previous two trips to Ecuador. With that in mind, I then wanted to represent as many types of birds, of various families and genus, as possible, while also factoring in a variety of colors. I am very proud of this piece, and it would be perfect for any bird lover, especially the one who has visited the tropical regions of Central or South America and who is familiar with these beautiful, diverse neotropical wonders.
The following birds are found in this piece: Red-footed Booby, Smooth-billed Ani, Ecuadorian Trogan, White-bearded Manakin, Tropical Parula, Yellow-rumped Cacique, Olivaceous Piculet, Pied Plover, Rufescent Tiger-Heron, Blue-headed Parrot, Black-necked Red Cotinga, Cream-colored Woodpecker, Mealy Amazon Parrot, Crested Owl, Green-and-Gold Tanager, Red-faced Spinetail, Many-banded Aracari, American Pygmy Kingfisher, Ornate Hawk-Eagle, Banded Antbird, Sparkling Violetear, Bay Wren, Red-headed Barbet, Crimson-rumped Toucanet, Rufous Motmot, Ornate Flycatcher, Green-crowned Wood Nymph, Violaceous Jay, Pale-vented Pigeon, Yellow-billed Tern, Long-billed Woodcreeper, Orange-backed Troupial, Yellow-bellied Dacnis, Wattled Jacama, Warbling Antbird, Plum-throated Cotinga, Sunbittern, Opal-rumped Tanager, Purple Honeycreeper, and the White-banded Swallow.
