Description
Original watercolor painting, 'Maroon Bells Summer Landscape', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. This was inspired by a trip in early June several years ago to the Maroon Snowmass Wilderness in the Elk Range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains - just outside of Aspen. Snow was still covering the iconic beautiful peaks, and the aspen forest was just beginning to leaf out. Though wildflowers were not quite blooming at the time, I took the liberty here of adding flowers that will bloom at this elevation and this part of the Rockies later in the summer -- a meadow is filled with sneezeweed, a type of sunflower, and Blue Flax. Monument Plants grow towards the back of the open meadow -- gentian wildflowers that bloom once in the long life span of a given plant.
