Description
'View from Atop Mount Sneffels', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. This black and white photograph shows the jagged ridge near the summit of Mount Sneffels, and the view looking down towards Yankee Basin, to the southeast. A fair amount of snow still lies along the slopes of many of these mountains in mid July, though hiking is perfect in the summer. Mount Sneffels is a 14er (fourteener), a mountain that is 14,000 feet or higher above sea level in elevation. 14er's are popular hiking destinations for many outdoor enthusiasts in Colorado, with over 50 in the state. Sneffels Peak rises near the lovely community of Ouray.
