'Mount Evans', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. Mount Evans is a 14er (fourteener) mountain, a mountain with an elevation of 14,000 feet or greater, which is in the Front Range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains - one of the closest 14ers to the large city of Denver. This beautiful peak resides in the Mount Evans Wilderness Area. Summer is short and arrives late in the high alpine habitat above treeline; here, snow and ice continue to melt in late June near Summit Lake. The mountain ridge is reflected in these small alpine ponds.
