'Brilliant Balsamroot and Silverthorne', a fine art mountain photograph by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. This colorful summer scene will be loved by those who live in or have passed through the lovely town of Silverthorne, which lies in the central Colorado Rockies between the ski communities of Steamboat Springs and Breckenridge. Here, on this sunny morning in mid June, wildflowers abound and are blooming on the lower mountain slopes of Ptarmigan Peak. Bright yellow Arrowleaf Balsamroot flowers rise from the soil. The distant lake and sky above shine blue, and part of the town can be seen in the valley below. Pine and aspen forest covers the land down to the lake.
