Description
'Autumn Aspen Canopy', a fine art nature photograph by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. Between Leadville and Buena Vista, in Colorado's central Rockies, lie the Twin Lakes, and right beside it, the South Elbert trail which leads hikers through a beautiful stretch of aspen and pine forest at the lower elevations of this mountain. At the height of autumn, this forest is breathtaking, with colorful foliage all around. Here, the very highest levels of forest can be seen as the land opens up and one approaches treeline. This is the southern approach up Mount Elbert. Mount Elbert is one of over fifty 14er's (fourteener) in Colorado - mountains with an elevation of over 14,000 feet.
