Original watercolor painting, 'Subtropical Forest', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. This piece is based off of a small segment of the subtropical forest I walked through while visiting Wildsumaco preserve, which resides in the lower foothills of the Andes, bordering the Amazon, in the northern half of Ecuador. Dense vegetation fills these forests in all levels, from the ground up to the canopy. It is a very dark forest environment, without a huge amount of sunlight that reaches the ground; however in terms of the watercolor medium, it is much more effective to leave things brighter, so as to better convey the life and contrast between leaves and more open areas.

My passions in photography are landscapes and nature, capturing these elements in winter, spring, summer, and fall, in all types of terrain and locations around the world. I aim to capture the natural beauty of the world around me, and my philosophy is to use minimal amounts of post-processing. NO AI, no altered backgrounds, no filters, no effects, everything shot in RAW. The themes of my watercolor paintings are most commonly natural landscapes, wildlife, and scenes from my travels.
