Description
'Wetterhorn and Matterhorn Peaks', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. Wetterhorn Peak, named after the famous mountain of the Swiss Alps, is a 14er (fourteener) mountain, with an elevation of over 14,000 feet, that lies in the San Juans range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, near Lake City. Shortly after sunrise, the summit of this mountain has begun to glow with sunlight, and the lightened soft blue sky overhead is filled with delicate puffy clouds. Matterhorn Peak lies to the right in this image, and a large alpine meadow fills the basin between the two peaks. This landscape photograph was taken in mid July.
