I am so thankful to have been able to visit this pristine alpine wilderness above treeline on several occasions, especially with our ensuing climate change and these areas slowly changing. This meadow in the San Juans range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains traditionally receives higher amounts of rainfall than other parts of the state, but some years are drier than others, and precipitation seems to be decreasing over time. However here, the meadow is lush and colorful pink Rosy Paintbrush wildflowers dot the slope, with other flowers and vegetation covering the land. A distinctive mountain peak rises in the background.
