Artist's Description
Original watercolor painting, 'Winter Landscape near Crested Butte', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. This picturesque mountain and valley is to the north/northwest of the community of Crested Butte, and this painting is based off of what it looked like on a January morning a few winters ago. The stream that flows through this valley was partially frozen, with frost and ice along its banks. The meadow and slopes were covered in fresh snow, and the pine and aspen forests blanketed the slopes above the valley floor, in varying golden yellow, brown, and maroon shades. The mountain peaks in the distance were almost entirely covered in snow, and the blue sky was clear.
