Original watercolor painting, 'Rainbow Bearded Thornbill', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. This handsome small hummingbird is found in certain subtropical regions of Columbia, Ecuador, and Peru. Though he is primarily dark in plumage, he makes up for this with brilliant iridescent red, orange, and blue-purple feathers on his crest and narrow throat - or 'beard'. I used bright splashes of red, magenta, and orange in the background, to complete what I see as the aura of this beautiful bird. South American wildlife painting.
