Original watercolor painting, 'Pika with Wildflowers', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. Pikas are small animals of the high alpine that are related to rabbits. They scamper across the boulders and gather flowers and vegetation to eat and to store in their underground burrows. In this piece, I have depicted one of these adorable creatures eating some grass as it sits atop a small rock, surrounded by wildflowers. Bright yellow Alpine Sunflower, blue-purple Skyrocket, and pink Moss Campion flowers fill its immediate surroundings. It's always rewarding to see these animals while hiking in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
