'The Beauty of a Colorado Summer', a mountain landscape photograph by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. The San Juans range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains is one of the most scenic areas of the state, with picturesque mountain peaks, rolling pine forest, and wide stretches of open meadow. High amounts of rainfall tends to fall in this part of Colorado, resulting in abundant wildflower blooms. This scene was taken along the Blue Lakes Trail, in the Mount Sneffels Wilderness Area and Uncompahgre Forest, between the communities of Ouray and Telluride. Vivid, colorful flowers are still blooming in early August - blue-purple Lupine, yellow sunflower, and orange-red Indian Paintbrush.
