'Southwest Colorado Mountain Landscape', by Cascade Colors / Lynn Cyrus. This landscape lies between Silverton and Durango, Colorado, in the heart of the San Juans range of the Rocky Mountains, in the Weminuche Wilderness Area. One can only reach this location by train, and then by hiking in. Rugged mountain peaks, the Needle Mountains, fill this area, and lush green meadow blankets the alpine slopes. Here, near treeline, a stream descends down the steep slope, creating small cascades and waterfalls. Fireweed, a pink wildflower, blooms in patches above. Windom and Sunlight Peak, two 14ers, are nearby.
