Description
'Rocky Mountain Wildflowers', a nature photograph by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. The Indian Peaks Wilderness Area is within the Roosevelt National Forest in the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies, near the communities of Eldora and Nederland. It is my favorite location in this region to view and photograph wildflowers. Many species of flower grow in this protected area, on the open meadows and slopes of the mountains, from early July through late August. This yellow member of the Sunflower family was blooming in abundance a few days ago, covering many of the meadows in a yellow blanket of color. The colors in this photograph are especially vivid and deep due to the partial shade from the sunlight. Blue-purple aster blooms can also be seen in the background of this image. This is obviously a Vertical presentation and composition of this scene; there is a sister horizontal version in my portfolio as well!
