Description
'Indian Peaks Wildflower Meadow', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. Alpine wildflowers at or above treeline have a very short blooming window, and the timeframe of this can vary from year to year and from mountain to mountain, depending on moisture levels and other factors. This particular meadow is very rich in wildflower species and density, and was in bloom in mid August. This photograph was taken near King's Lake, in the Front Range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The Indian Peaks Wilderness area is a large protected wilderness near the mountain communities of Eldora and Nederland. Yellow, green, blue, pink, and purple colors fill this summer scene.
