'American Avocet Portrait', a fine art bird and wildlife photograph by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. In early spring at Cherry Creek State Park near Denver, Colorado, North American shorebirds are beginning to migrate through, including the beautiful and colorful American Avocet in breeding plumage. Here, in early morning light, this handsome bird is wading through the shallow water at the edge of the reservoir.
