Description
'Yale Peak with Wildflowers', a Colorado summer mountain landscape photograph by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. Even in mid August, some meadows in the Rocky Mountains are still in peak bloom. This meadow, with Yale's Peak in the background, is filled with Queen's Crown, Western Paintbrush, Western Bistort, and aster. Dark summer clouds, potentially bringing rain, begin to accumulate overhead. Yale Peak lies within the Collegiates, a range of the Rockies in central Colorado between Leadville and Buena Vista. Yale is a 14er (fourteener) mountain, a mountain of elevation 14,000 feet or higher. These mountains are popular hiking destinations.
