Description
'Wildflowers after Wildfire', a nature photograph by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. A wildfire swept through this section of Rocky Mountain National Park, near Fern Lake, a few years ago. While wildfires kill many of the trees and other lifeforms, they also can cleanse an ecosystem, allowing new growth to emerge. Wildflowers especially may grow more plentifully with the new open areas and with the additional sunlight that reaches the forest floor. Here, vivid yellow arnica flowers grow in a large patch - related to sunflowers.
