Artist's Description
Original watercolor painting, 'Mountain Pines and Indian Paintbrush', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. This piece is based off a scene I came across atop Red Mountain Pass, just outside of Ouray, on a morning in mid July. Fog and misty clouds were still covering some of the mountain slopes and rising from the pine forest, and the rain was just beginning to clear. Bright red Indian Paintbrush blooms dotted the foreground, and layers of rolling hill receded towards the uninterrupted forest in the background. This area of the Colorado Rockies lies within the San Juans range, and is just gorgeous in the summer, when the wildflowers come out and the mountains are covered in lush green vegetation.
