Original watercolor painting, 'Blanca and Ellingwood Landscape', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. I really enjoy hiking in the Colorado Rockies each summer, and look forward to the snow receding and the alpine blooming with wildflowers and grasses during its very brief growing season. I have ascended many fourteeners (14ers), mountains with an elevation of over 14,000 feet, and I especially love the vast landscapes that open up before me from high above treeline. This painting is based off of a scene like this, taken from the upper slopes of Mount Lindsay, looking out towards Blanca Peak and Ellingwood Point, all of which are 14er mountains. This part of the Rocky Mountains is in southern Colorado, in the Sangre de Cristro range.
