Description
'Indian Peaks at their Finest', a summer landscape photograph by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. The mountains of the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area are near the communities of Nederland and Eldora, in the Front Range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. This area contains some of the most abundant patches of wildflowers I have encountered in the Front Range, with meadows covering the mountain slopes filled with a variety of flower species in the short months of summer after the snow has melted. Here, near treeline, pine trees still grow tall but large open meadows are also present and receive much sunlight and water; the flowers here can grow up to a few feet tall. In this image, yellow sunflower and blue-purple harebell are prominent, as are the delicate white wildflowers dotting the meadow. I found the square presentation of this composition to be the most striking!
