Description
'Death Camas with Wildflower Meadow Background', a nature photograph by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. Wildflowers tend to be plentiful in the short alpine summer months in the San Juans range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. In a year of exceptional wildflower numbers, flowers fill much of this meadow beside lower Blue Lake, within the Mount Sneffels Wilderness Area. This preserved wilderness, also within the Uncompahgre National Forest, is found on the slopes of Mount Sneffels. Mount Sneffels, a 14er (fourteener), can just be glimpsed in the upper right corner of this image, mostly covered in clouds. Mount Sneffels rises between the mountain communities of Ouray and Telluride. This image features the Death Camas flower, and a multitude of other colorful flowers can be seen in the background. The Death Camas is a very poisonous and potentially deadly plant - but it sure is lovely!!
