Description
'Colorado Late Summer Splendor', a fine art mountain landscape photograph by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. 2015 was an unusually wet year in Colorado, with snow in the high alpine melting on the later side, and higher amounts of rainfall all throughout the summer. This resulted in phenomenal numbers of wildflowers, and the lengthiest flowering season I have experienced to date. Never before have I come across still decent numbers of flowers in bloom in the first week of September! Here, cream-white Tundra Paintbrush is growing in this alpine meadow, with the mountain peaks of the Hunter Frying Pan Wilderness, near Independence Pass, rising in the background. A warm blue sky filled with textured puffy clouds shines overhead early in the morning, and a glimpse of the clear blue waters of a narrow stream can be seen. A hint of autumn is beginning to show in some of the leaves and grasses. This part of the Rocky Mountains is near the community of Aspen.
