Description
'Arctic Gentian Blooming in the Alpine', a fine art nature photograph by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. 2015 was an unusually wet year in Colorado, with snow in the high alpine melting on the later side, and higher amounts of rainfall all throughout the summer. These small, delicate, delightful white-and-purple flowers are one of the latest to bloom in the alpine - here you can see quite clearly that autumn is arriving, with some of the surrounding vegetation turning red, orange, and brown. This meadow was within the Hunter Frying Pan Wilderness, near Independence Pass. This part of the Rocky Mountains is near the community of Aspen.
